The primary test of the Cutting System was to determine how well the Blade and Anvil performed compared to the Fiskars manual lopper being used as reference.  This required the need of a tensile tester and manufacture of a fixture to attach to the machine so that the Blade and Anvil could be fastened to the machine.  As the machine performs the test, the Blade and Anvil are closed on a tree branch of 1 inch diameter and the maximum cutting force is determined.
